This month’s Themelios has an article written by Sinclair Ferguson where he lists ten things he wishes he had been taught as a young preacher.
1. Know Your Bible Better
2. Be a Man of Prayer
3. Don’t Lose Sight of Christ
4. Be Deeply Trinitarian
5. Use Your Imagination
6. Speak Much of Sin and Grace
7. Use “the Plain Style”
8. Find Your Own Voice
9. Learn How to Transition
10. Love Your People
You can find the article here.
Justin Taylor posted 20 Resolutions from Sincliar Ferguson’s address at the Desiring God Conference, The Power of Words and the Wonder of God.
Ferguson recently preached through the book of James at his church, and those audio messages have also been listed conveniently by Justin Tayor.
The Power of Words and the Wonder of God
We cannot preach the imperitives of personal holiness without preaching those truths that sustain such a possibility, and those truths being the work of the triune God. Without God’s work holiness isn’t possible.
That’s a simple summation of something Sinclair Ferguson said at the 2007 Banner of Truth conference, and is quoted by Tony Reinke.
